You need three things: the e-mail address, its password, and the server name shown under Mail app settings on the E-mail page of the panel.
The settings
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Account type | IMAP |
| User name | The full e-mail address, e.g. anna@example.dk |
| Incoming server (IMAP) | The server name from the panel, port 993, SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing server (SMTP) | The same server name, port 465 (SSL/TLS) or 587 (STARTTLS) |
| Outgoing server needs sign-in | Yes, with the same user name and password |
Use the server name exactly as shown in the panel. Then the security certificate matches and your program does not warn you.
Choose IMAP, not POP3. With IMAP the mail stays on the server, so your phone, computer and webmail always show the same folders.
Outlook (Windows and Mac)
- Choose File > Add account (on Mac: Outlook > Settings > Accounts > +).
- Type the e-mail address and choose Advanced options > Let me set up my account manually.
- Choose IMAP.
- Enter the incoming and outgoing settings from the table above and the password.
- Finish. Outlook downloads your mail; this can take a while the first time.
iPhone and iPad
- Open Settings > Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts > Add Account (on older versions: Settings > Mail > Accounts).
- Choose Other > Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, the e-mail address, the password and a description, then Next.
- Choose IMAP. Enter the server name as Host Name under both Incoming Mail Server and Outgoing Mail Server, and the full e-mail address as User Name in both places.
- Choose Next and Save.
Apple Mail on Mac
- Open Mail > Add Account > Other Mail Account.
- Enter name, e-mail address and password. If Mail cannot find the settings by itself, enter the server name for incoming and outgoing mail and choose IMAP.
Android (Gmail app)
- Open the Gmail app, tap your picture > Add another account > Other.
- Enter the e-mail address, choose Manual setup > Personal (IMAP).
- Enter the password, then the incoming server (port 993, SSL/TLS) and the outgoing server (port 465, SSL/TLS) from the table.
Samsung Email and other apps ask for the same information.
Thunderbird
- Choose Account Settings > Account Actions > Add Mail Account.
- Enter name, e-mail address and password. Thunderbird usually finds the settings by itself.
- If not, choose Configure manually and use the table above.
It does not work
- Wrong password: create a new one with New password on the E-mail page and enter it again everywhere.
- Certificate warning: check that you used the server name from the panel, not
mail.yourdomain. - Can receive but not send: check that the outgoing server requires sign-in and uses port 465 or 587. Some networks block port 25, which is not used for sending from a mail program.
